Why Give?

Here is the deal – we all have many wrong beliefs about money. (As we do about a lot of other things too!) One of the great things about walking with the Lord is that He teaches us truth. In knowing His truth we are set free from the lies and deceit we have lived in that have gotten us in so much trouble.

So God teaches us that He is the One ultimately responsible for the finances we have. He gave us the talent, drive, and everything else that we have put to work to earn a wage. He is the One who controls the market conditions that allow our companies to thrive. He is the One who works to get us in the door in the places we work. We give with great joy because He is always so faithful to us.

And then there is that little thing about Him just being God. If He is truly God as He has revealed Himself to be in Scripture, then giving to Him is easy. We give with great joy because of who we are giving to!

And if He is who He says He is, then there is no greater work than His work. We have been called to reach the nations with the Gospel of Jesus. That takes money. So we give with great joy because we have confidence in the work we are giving to!

Giving is great!

Ways to Give

There are four ways you can give at Pecan Grove Baptist Church:
1. Through our weekly collection in worship 2. Through online giving (Note: If you would like to have the church debit your bank account on a recurring basis [once a month or semi-monthly], and do nto wish to sign up for this service on-line, please contact Cathy Cusimano at ccusimano@pecangrovebaptist.org. With automatic drafting, you may change the amount at any time, as long as Cathy has two working days prior notice of the change.) 3. Through electronic billpay via your bank’s website 4. By mailing in your check to PGBC 1727 FM 359 Richmond, Texas 77406

Types of Giving

1. Firstfruits – You give a certain amount of the income you receive. We give based on our gross income (It is not God’s fault the government gets in there!). And we give on all income we receive – not just paychecks. This is your regular offering. You may give it weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Some people take their yearly gross, prayerfully consider what they want to give, divide that amount by 52 and give weekly. Others give after receiving each paycheck or other form of income. 2. Stocks and Bonds – Gift of appreciated stock offer additional tax savings: you avoid capital gains taxes and receive a tax deduction for the full value of the stock on the date of transfer. 3. Endowment Giving – Many of our members make certain they will be able to continue to give to the work of their local church forever. This can be done by remembering Pecan Grove Baptist in your estate planning or by making a special gift now. 4. Vehicles – If you wish to donate a vehicle, it is best for us if you first sell the vehicle and gift the proceeds accordingly. 5. Other Non-Cash Gifts – You may also receive tax credit for non-cash contributions. An acknowledgement of your donation will be mailed within 30 days of your contribution. As per IRS rules, the donor is responsible for determining the value of the item donated. The church is not allowed to assign a value for the donated item.
